The Shower

Karen's bridal shower was yesterday, and it was a total success! Everyone who said they'd show up did, which, in my experience, is something!

My SIL, Ginny did a wonderful job decorating the place and setting things up. She got me a beautiful purple azalea with a poem that was lovely. I planted a lilac when Karen was born. This one will be planted the year of her marriage.

Nicole came with her and Chrissy arrived early to help set up, so things were in place and ready to go by the time Karen got there and the guests arrived.

After introductions, we had a wonderful lunch. Selah Chicken, Pasta de Provence, green beans and Double Red Potatoes (red skins with red peppers!). The food was delicious. For dessert, instead of cake, we had a cupcake tree. The cupcakes were fabulous and everybody took one. With a cake so many people pass, so I think this was a good choice on Karen's part.

After we ate, we played some games and passed out prizes.

Then Karen opened presents. There were so many presents from people who didn't come, so she made quite a haul! Along with a lot of other things, she got her Cuisinart Pots & Pans, an electric griddle, all the glassware she asked for, a Tassimo, a shower radio/CD radio (which was all Josh wanted!), and so many other cool things. Both registries seem to be pretty well decimated! She said there are so many boxes in the kitchen that they can't open the fridge!(IMHO, one of her best gifts were the Guinness Pub Glasses!)

Josh came at the end, she introduced him, and he gave her flowers. And, being the good sport he is, he posed with her with their Mickey & Minnie bridal hats!

It was wonderful but I'm so glad it's passed. I was so nervous! And afterwards, I came home and took a 45 minute nap. Then went back to bed soon afterwards and slept 12 hours! I can't imagine how long it will take me to recuperate from the wedding.Josh's Mom, Marilyn.
