Graduation Day...at last! (Snapshots of Saturday)

Well, today was the big day: Karen’s graduation from Youngstown State University. We left at 8:30 AM so Karen could be there in time to line up at 9. So we (Josh, Karen & Jerry, Gary & myself) found seats in the bleachers and waited for the 10 AM processional. We managed to pass the time joking and generally acting pretty juvenile, but having out usual good time.

The ceremony was 2 ½ hours, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. They managed to have several speakers, musical selections, and presentation of honorary degrees and to get all the graduates (close to 1000) across the stage, names read, pictures taken, in the allotted amount of time.

Karen graduated cum laude! We couldn’t be more proud!

Had time to come home and change and rest a little before the big celebratory dinner. Thirteen of us had Champaign, appetizers, and a wonderful dinner at the Mill Street Grille in New Castle. The place is beautiful and the food fabulous. We had a wonderful afternoon with friends and family…the perfect celebration for everyone’s favorite “little girl”.

A centerpiece of beautiful red and white roses from Big Karen and Jerry. They also bought the champaign and appetizers.
Karen (right in the middle with the long hair) listening intently (?) to one of the speakers.

Finally! The diploma! Well...not really. It's an empty portfolio. She had to pick up the actually diploma at a reception afterward.

Could we be any prouder?!

Friends and family having fun!
